THE NEW SOUTHERN VIEW CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS ONLINE WITH FOUR NEW FEATURES

Jackson, MS – MAY 26, 2006 – The New Southern View, online since the Summer of 2001, is proud to be Mississippi’s first and only ezine about Mississippi! Our goal is to draw positive focus to our state.

We celebrate this Summer with our “How Animals Teach Us-Smart-Humans to Read.” This is a supplemental program to the Jackson/Hinds Library System’s Summer Reading Program “Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales.”

“How Animals Teach Us-Smart-Humans to Read” heralds The New Southern View’s “Mississippi Renaissance: New Learning” starting in September. “Mississippi Renaissance: New Learning” will be a page within The New Southern View Ezine that is devoted to improving education in Mississippi through dialogue, ideas, and encouragement. This page will serve as an information tool and forum promoting the cause of education in Mississippi.

Starting July 1st, The New Southern View invites Metropolitan Jackson to a “South Jackson Online Tour.” This online feature will present to the public a biweekly joyride to a South Jackson attraction, scene, activity, person, or business. The New Southern View aims to introduce Metropolitan Jackson to the treasures in its own backyard. Get to know your neighbors on the enviable South Side of Town.

In addition, The New Southern View will launch a page in the Fall that deals with Mississippi’s wealth of ghost stories. This will be titled “Creaking Floorboards.”

There is much good to say about Mississippi, and The New Southern View’s staff-of-two plans to continue satisfying the world’s fascination with our state. We have a devoted audience from right here and around the world. Mississippians might be surprised that people read about us from across the United States, in the Netherlands, Japan, and Russia, to list just a few.

The New Southern View Ezine would like to see Mississippian’s themselves take a moment to admire their own state. If your newspeople would like photographs, back issues of The New Southern View, an interview, or specific information not covered in this release, please contact either:
